Systems Accountant, Christchurch in Christchurch, Canterbury

Our client is a large Christchurch business with a presence throughout New Zealand and a highly trusted brand. Due to an ongoing focus on systems and processes an opportunity has been created for an experienced Systems Accountant to join the team on a short term project capacity. The duration of this assignment is estimated at between 3-6 months but will be relatively fluid depending on how much the project team can accomplish.
Reporting into the Finance Project Lead and Finance Manager, you will be responsible for facilitating the testing of several modules of the company’s new ERP within the testing environment. The testing scripts have already been developed and you will need to analyse the results to ensure a high level of accuracy and integrity. You will also be responsible for examining, documenting and mapping current finance and accounting processes to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency saving and you will also identify more accurate ways of reporting relevant management information and analytics to enhance the understanding of the business and its performance.
To be successful in this role you will have a sound understanding of an ERP and ideally have exposure to several ERP systems as well as reporting/analytical packages and data warehouses. It is critical that you have a solid comprehension of both accounting and IT and can understand both disciplines and how they interact to deal appropriately with both sets of stakeholders. You will have a logical and analytical mindset and will be able to think outside the square to identify solutions to problems. You will need excellent communication skills to communicate effectively across the business and will need to prioritise effectively to meet your deadlines in this busy role.
